This ring is made from a 1975 German coin that was minted to commemorate the philosopher Albert Schweitzer.
On the outer band of the ring is a stylized eagle, "Bundesrepublik Deutschland 1975" and "5 Deutsche Mark". On the ring edge are the words 'Ehrfurcht vor dem Leben’ meaning 'Reverence for Life' and inside the band is written "Albert Schweitzer 1875 - 1965".
While the coin this particular ring is made from is mostly silver, it also contains copper which in some cases can cause a harmless mark on your finger.
