Product Overview

First minted in 1928, The Saorstát Éireann Leat Coróin (Half Crown) was one of the first coins of the Irish Free State and so, was one of the first coins to be inscribed entirely in the Irish language.

Featuring an Irish sport horse and the words "Leat Coróin" on the inner band, the outer band of the coin is adorned with the tips of the Irish Harp and the words "Saorstát Éireann" meaning Irish Free State.

Crafted in 75% Silver, the Saorstát Éireann Leat Coróin Coin Ring maintains a brightly polished appearance, and the dark patina has an embossing effect on the original details of the coin. The head and tail of the Irish Sport Horse can be seen on the inside of the band along with "2s6d" which stands for two shillings and sixpence.

The ring pictured is from 1934 but the year you receive will be random (these coins were only minted until 1937). The default band width for this ring is approx. 9mm but can be made more narrow if you wish (request at checkout).

While the coin this particular ring is made from is mostly silver (75%), it also contains copper (25%) which in some cases, can cause a harmless, washable mark on your finger.
