This ring is made from a sterling silver coin minted in 2009 to mark 400 years of trade relations between The Netherlands and Japan.
The ring's grid of stripes and dots refers to the Dutch and Japanese flags. Beside the year 2009 on the outer band is depicted the special privy mark of a Japanese temple; a symbol of cooperation with the Japanese mint. On the edge of the ring is the proverb phrase "GOD ☆ ZIJ ☆ MET ☆ ONS ☆" meaning "God be with us"
