Product Overview

The Skellig Michael Coin Ring is handmade from a Sterling Silver Irish coin, minted in 2008 to celebrate Ireland’s World Heritage Site of Skellig Michael. Skellig Michael is a steep rocky island off the coast of County Kerry, Ireland. The island recently served as a filming location in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and for several scenes in The Last Jedi.

This large and beautiful ring displays the Irish name for the island - Sceilig Mhichíl, meaning Michael’s Rock. The outer band features a flock of birds rising towards the stars. These stars serve to represent heaven and also allude to the twelve stars found on the coins of the European Union. The silhouettes of the birds are all species that can be found around the Skellig Islands. On the inside of the band is the word éire, the year, 2008, and the tip and base of the Irish harp.

The Skellig Michael coin ring is handmade from a very large coin and can only be made in sizes 10 (U) and up. The width of the band is approximately 11.5mm and at its widest point, the band is 2.7mm thick. The rings pictured are a size Z+3 (US 14) and a size 10.5 (V) - your ring will look slightly different depending on what size you order.
