Product Overview

In 2002 Austria issued this unusal, nonagonal (9-sided) coin to mark the 250th anniversary of the Vienna zoo - the world’s oldest zoo that is still in operation. The 5 Euro coin was minted in 80% silver.

When handcrafted into a ring, the outer band of the ring features animals including an elephant, giraffe, owl, penguin and chimpanzee. The inner band bears the country's name - REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH. Due to the coin's 9 sides the ring has a slight crown-shape to it.

The ring pictured is a size S (US 9, EU 60) and the band is approx. 8.5mm wide. Your ring will look slightly different depending on what size you order.

While the coin this particular ring is made from is mostly silver (80%), it also contains copper (20%) which in some cases can cause a harmless, washable mark on your finger.
